God Cares

God Cares
Yes, God does care. He cares how you feel. He cares about your pain and He wants you to get better. He is your creator! He has so much love for you that you cannot begin to imagine how much He loves you.

Then why do I not feel like I am loved? Why do I feel so bad if God loves me so much?

God created us and he designed us to be dependent on others as we grow up. God’s design for us as human beings was for us to learn about Him, not only from His word, but also by how our parents related to us. For example, we were to learn about God’s provision for us from our earthly father. He was to provide for us.

We would learn about God’s nurturing love from our mother. If you were fortunate to be raised in a home where both a mother and father both loved fairly well then you will have a fairly good understanding about some of the character of God.

Did your father discipline you when you did something wrong? God does this. Did your mother hold you when you were hurt? God does this.

No parent is perfect, however. Everyone suffers from a condition known as sin. Basically this means that no one does everything that God wants. Not one person can act the way God wants everyday. Even the most “perfect” parent makes mistakes and these mistakes damage our view of God.

This situation is magnified if sexual abuse is present. If you have been abused then you “learned” some things from the abuse:

• No one can be trusted
• I am not valued
• I am worthless
• I am not protected
• God feels the same way about me

This last one is the biggest lie. That’s the problem with abuse. It teaches you lies about who you really are and about what God is really like.

Allow God to begin a healing in you. Ask Him to show you which lies you have been taught about Him. Ask Him to show you what He is really like. “If you draw close to God, He will draw near to you.” (James 4:8) You will find that

• God cares about you more than you can imagine
• He wants to give you life and life abundantly
• His desire is that you be made whole
