Paul's Story Paul's Story My name is Paul Sadler and I am survivor of childhood sexual abuse. I want to share my story with you so that you will know the awesome power of God to heal and transform a wounded soul. It is my desire that my story will help you or someone you know find the same healing. The aftermath of abuse can be devastating. In my life I have struggled with depression, anxiety and shame. I built emotional walls up that kept people out and the pain in. At the very core of my being was a lie that told me I was worthless. The shame of the abuse was so deep and so ingrained that it began part of my identity. Even though I became a Christian and was born-again at age 19, I still felt like something was wrong with me. I knew that God loved me on an intellectual level, but my emotions told me something different. They told me that, not only was something wrong with me, but that my existence was wrong. I began to feel that I would never get any better and that I would just have to live the rest of my life with feelings of shame and worthlessness. Glory to God that He had another plan! Through healing prayer I was able to experience healing deep within my soul and spirit. What I knew in my “head” now became knowledge in my experience. God healed me. The shame has been taken away. The anxiety is gone. I no longer trust in the emotional walls I created to keep me safe; I trust in God and His Spirit. The wounds no longer control my life and I am free to live the kind of Spirit-filled life that God wants for me. |
